The UK is one of the least biodiverse countries in the world, with a loss of 41% of all UK species since the 1970s.

In recent years the practice of rewilding has captured the hearts and minds of environmentalists as a method to regenerate depleted landscapes but a report found that the popularity of rewilding is driving land grabs in Scotland, a nation with some of the highest concentrations of large-scale private land ownership in the Minority World*.

As a promising solution to the crisis of biodiversity loss, can rewilding be governed equitably for the benefit of both people and the planet?
