Welcome to ClimateInColour

✨ A newsletter for the climate curious, exploring the intersection of climate justice, climate science and climate technology.

I’m Joycelyn Longdon an award-winning environmental justice technologist and educator, making climate conversations more accessible, diverse and hopeful for the climate curious.

I am currently completing a PhD at Cambridge University working with bioacoustics - essentially Shazam for nature – and local forest communities in Ghana for biodiversity conservation.

ClimateInColour began as a way for me to document my doctoral journey and make accessible critical conversations about climate. It quickly grew into an online education platform, transforming how people learned about, connected to and acted on climate issues.

The platform was often perceived as an organisation, something concrete, with a large team. I am so honoured that so many people felt that the work being put out in the world from ClimateInColour was of such high quality that it could be mistaken as the output of an organisation. In truth, the “organisation” was no more than my labour of love, and outpouring of large amounts of time and money, supported and brought to life by a range of talented and passionate freelancers.

Going into the final year of my PhD and working on my biggest project to date (more coming soon👀), I am craving space to be flexible, to be my full self online, to dedicate time to my passions and to better look after my physical and mental health.

So what does this mean for the newsletter?

I will no longer be publishing the Deep Dives Newsletter, all paid subscriptions have been indefinitely paused.

You will continue to receive bi-weekly (ish) newsletters amplifying:

✨ positive climate news stories

✨ updates on my speaking engagements and appearances

✨ climate justice campaigns and actions

✨ mutual aid fundraisers

✨ climate events and opportunities

✨ updates on my doctoral research

updates from the world of climate tech.

This space, as I do, will continue to evolve and I thank you in advance for coming along on this journey with me.
